The HVAC industry is transitioning away from R-410A refrigerant due to new environmental regulations aimed at reducing greenhouse gases.

Here’s what this refrigerant change means for you:

• Higher Costs: New systems using eco-friendly refrigerants like R-32 or R-454B may be more expensive, and upgrading existing systems can be complex and costly.
• Availability Issues: As R-410A production decreases, its supply will dwindle, potentially making it harder and more expensive to maintain systems that still use it. Finding parts and services for older systems may also become challenging as manufacturers shift focus to newer refrigerants.

The transition away from R-410A is already underway, and its production is expected to be phased out in the coming years. Cardwell HVAC & Plumbing strongly recommends planning ahead for this.
